Our Story:
The Friends of Welles Park Play Lot is an organization formed in 2006 as a sub-committee of the Welles Park Advisory Council. The organization is comprised of the Chicago Park District, Alderman Gene Schulter and his staff, The Welles Park Advisory Council, Ravenswood Bank, and residents of the community. Our Goal is to raise funds to provide a safe, attractive community space for neighbors, families and friends to enjoy this neighborhood gem.
We are fully funded to complete Phase A and will break ground this Fall, 2009. (see concept drawing in Welles Park House) We could not have raised the current funds without your support and involvement, but we still must raise $100,000 to complete Phase B (see concept drawing in Welles Park House). Our goal is to raise $100,000 by early 2010!
What will the improvements be:
- Installing updated, safer and age appropriate play equipment
- Installing a rubberized playground surface
- Installing new fencing around the play lot
- Installing new landscaping and benches
- Become ADA compliant
